When I searched for a tablet this past holiday season, my main reason was so that I could use it as an e-reader so that I could download and read books on-the-go in one convenient location. Little did I know, I’d simply use my tablet for apps, photos, youtube and internet searches, rather than reading. Sure, I downloaded a few books and enjoyed reading them in bed, (say goodbye, flashlight), but I realized that I truly missed holding a book, turning the pages, dog-earring the corners and that classic book smell. If you’re an e-reader who has returned back to books, you’re not alone.
It seems like the younger generation is getting really into books again, and most of the time it is due to highly-rated series books, like Twilight, Harry Potter and The Hunger Games which have turned into major motion pictures. If you have a book reader in the house, you’ve likely heard the names Jacob, Edward and Katniss on a regular basis. In order to satisfy our bookworms, we’ve compiled a list of some of the most popular best selling books to hit the stands…let your summer reading list planning begin…now.
Divergent by Veronica Roth – It’s a three-book futuristic series about a girl who lives in a world divided by sectors, to which she can’t identify with one, as she is instructed. Currently a major motion picture, this adventure-filled novel is a page turner that will have you reading hundreds of pages in a weekend. We warned you!
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green – Bold and insightful, you’ll dive into the life of a girl with terminal cancer who has been told she has but a few years to live. A young man joins her journey in love, life and tragedy. This is another one that will soon be a major motion picture. Have your tissues handy!
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn – A New York Times best seller, this book takes you into the lives of a failed and murderous marriage that keeps twisting the more pages you turn. Toxic and addictive, every time you think you know what happens, you’ll prove yourself wrong. Did Nick really murder his wife? Rumor has it, this book will be hitting the theaters in the near future.
Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath – A bit off the beaten path for the above fiction novels, this book is about diving into your inner-self to find out what you are good at, (when life so-often asks you to fix what qualities you are missing). You’ll find a code inside the book that allows you to take an online test which will tell you which qualities you have, and thus encourage you to further develop those qualities, rather than try to improve on your faults. Quite a different way to look in the mirror, isn’t it?
If you’re a book lover like myself, you’ll love our Books design category, which will help you share your book enthusiasm with family and friends. It’s great for sharing pictures of book club, a brand new book you just read or a secret snapshot of your significant other reading in bed. You’ll love phrases like “Real Men Read Books”, “getting lost in a good book”, “eat, sleep read”, “fiction gives us a second chance that life denies us” or my favorite, “reading is dreaming with your eyes open”.
Encourage others to get lost in a book with you, or start a trend with your friends by sharing all of your favorite book-finds! Reading is cool, and our book photo designs will help you Carpe Librum (seize the book)!
