Put your drinking caps on…St. Patrick’s Day is just two weeks away! This year, St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Monday, which for many of us, means the weekend before will be a weekend of celebrations and shenanigans! Whether you’re Irish or an honorary Irish person for the day, I think we can all agree that St. Patrick’s Day is one of the most fun holidays we celebrate in the beginning of the year.
In the early 17th century, St. Patrick’s Day was made an official Christian feast day observed by the Catholics, the Church of Ireland, the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Lutheran Church. The day celebrates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. Today we most recognize the holiday as a day of Irish pride and celebration.
How will you be celebrating this Saint Patrick’s Day? Many will attend parades, local festivals and parties. Others will attend church services and don their green shamrock attire for the day. For my family, (straight off the boat), the entire week is an Irish celebration filled with family, classic Irish songs and a ton of Irish food.
One of my favorite parts of the holiday is taking pictures of the shenanigans downtown and celebrations with family and friends. Photofy has their own design category specifically made for St. Patrick’s Day.
