Calling all brides-to-be – this one’s for you! It seems like this question always comes up when planning out your big day: Should the bride and groom see each other before she walks down the aisle?
Tradition tells us that it’s bad luck to see your mate before you say “I do”, however the bridal world is quickly evolving, as it always does. One of the most beautiful moments and trends I’ve seen is the pre-wedding photo shoot with the bride and groom. Don’t start jaw-dropping yet, traditionalists, this new trend allows the bride and groom to be photographed together without actually seeing one another.
The bride and groom both stand on opposite sides of an open door, so that they can calm each others nerves and share a loving hand hold before their ceremony. Sometimes it’s just your fiance’s voice that you need to hear, to know you’re ready to walk (or run) down that aisle. We enhanced this beautiful photograph below with one of our bridal designs, which features hundreds of inspirational bridal quotes, from love of mine to wedding day and marry me.
Along with the above trend, we’ve also heard photo talk about the “first look” at the bride or groom. You know, the moment when the bride and groom first see one another at the beginning or end of the aisle? This is one of the most beautifully photographed shots any photographer can take, however it’s also one of the hardest. If you have only one photographer, how are they able to capture both first reactions if you’re at opposite ends of the aisle? In comes the “first look”.
A first look photo shoot takes place prior to the wedding. You simply stage a beautiful scene and the photographer captures a beautiful moment with the bride and groom in the same room together, seeing each other at the exact same time. Some couples choose to be blindfolded and then take them off at the same time, while others will have the bride approach the groom from behind and have him turn around to his beautiful bride. At Photofy, we’re quite honestly obsessed with photography, and we have to admit that this is one of the most beautiful wedding photo moments to capture.
After your wedding, be sure to go back and enhance your first look with a photo design from our bridal design catalog. We chose “best. day. ever” for this adorable “first look” moment, because really, is there any other day that is as magical as this one?
