What’s covered in snow, decorated with reindeer and flashing with lights? If you said this year’s Christmas sweater, you got it! In case you haven’t caught onto the trend, ugly Christmas sweaters are the IT thing for holiday parties this year. It’s a trend that probably started about five years ago, and it grows and grows each year.
Last year, we asked my family to come over for Christmas Eve dinner wearing their most festive ugly Christmas sweater…little did I know we’d be seeing the most epic ugly Christmas sweaters around. My brother-in-law came in a light blue cat sweater, fully equipped with snowflakes, a scalloped collar and rhinestone eyes. Our other relatives came as Clark and Ellen from Christmas vacation – I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with this year! I, myself, will be going as a girly Grinch.
An ugly Christmas sweater party is the perfect holiday party theme for a party with friends and family…just make sure they’ll actually play along, (nobody wants to be the only person in the ugly sweater). Encourage your guests to get creative and put on funky antlers, a Christmas hat or maybe even wrap themselves in lights. Award prizes to the ugliest, most creative and most festive sweater-wearers!
Not sure where to get your ugly Christmas sweater?? If a teacher’s closet isn’t within reach, no need to panic, there’s still places to look. One of the best places to find an ugly holiday sweater is at your local thrift shop. Some thrift shops this season have even donated entire racks in their store just for ugly Christmas sweaters. Walmart comes in at a close second, with racks of sweaters, t-shirts and even the amazing sweater-vest! If that’s not crazy enough for you, hit up an online store like MyUglyChristmasSweater.com for some out-of-this-world holiday sweaters – just beware, this online store can be rather expensive.
When you’re out there this holiday season participating in the ugly Christmas sweater trend, be sure to capture it on your camera or tablet. Enhance your ugly sweater photo with our “Get yo ugly sweater on!” photo enhancing holiday sticker, and hold your photo for later blackmail!
